The Snortum family has been servicing western Minnesota since the late 1800′s. Nils Snortum traveled the rural Canby area on horseback, taking orders for nursery stock. The Spring delivery came by train and Nils to waiting customers. He also started a grocery business in Canby, MN in 1890. His son, Randolf, grew up to start a greenhouse in 1937, near the family home. For years, the Canby Floral Company was the largest in the area. Darold Snortum followed in Randolf’s footsteps, but added the new landscaping business in 1930. In the early 50′s, the business expanded to include stores in Dawson and Madison. The name was changed to Snortum’s Flowers and Nursery Incorporated. Darold and his wife Olga raised three boys and not surprisingly, two became landscapers. In 1976, Steve Stortum opened Snortum’s Nurseries in Granite Falls, MN. Brother Pete is in Canby, Mn. Steve’s two sons represent the fifth generation of landscapers and plant experts. Brian in Sioux Falls, SD and in 2009 Brad came to open Snortum’s Landscape and Design in Ortonville. And yes, he has a son. A family business builds on what works. Each family, each generation learns to participate and add to the success. Experience, knowledge, and the desire to do excellent work for our customers is what the Snortum's are all about.

In my 21 years of Landscaping experience. I've been involved in many aspects of Landscaping. I've been currently employed with Snortum's Landscape & Design for eight years. I enjoy meeting the needs of homeowners and the many different challenges that make the homeowners satisfied. I look forward to helping you with your landscape project.
